Maps not only chart land, but also ways of seeing land, and therein, ways of seeing others and ourselves.

In the mid-Twentieth Century, Britain sent surveyors out to map the world. Using their aerial photographs and the super 8 film they took of their expeditions, we explore colonialism and its consequences, as they are being played out today, in a hillside village in Kenya.

The villagers are battling against a vast plantation, which is occupying land given away by the colonial administration, land which the villagers believe to be their own. As we move between past and present, we unravel the connections between the two and discover an unexpected legacy of colonialism.
